The Gold Shield is a membership-based organization of businesses dedicated to stopping the Veteran suicide national epidemic. Mykel Hawke is a proud Veteran, suporter of Veterans, and has been an active part in The Gold Shield’s mission as our national military spokesman.

One of the integral parts of The Gold Shield is the operation of our national campaign to help raise awareness of the Veteran suicide epidemic, grow our member businesses, and increase funding to Veteran support organizations. Mykel has been a key part in expanding the reach of our national campaign, and has done so from the perspective of a decorated military Veteran.

Mykel Hawke joined the US Army in 1982. He served on active duty for a total of 12 years; he also served in the Reserves and Guard for 12 more years. Hawke is a retired Green Beret/Special Forces Combat Commander and Senior Sergeant, an established Survival Expert, Martial Artist & Adventure Guide. He has also been Host & Producer for 8 TV series and featured on over 50 shows.

During his time of service, Mykel was committed as a leader, fighting and protecting us and his fellow soldiers. He continues this commitment of leadership today, as he helps The Gold Shield in saving those very soldiers from suicide when they return. Mykel realizes that our soldiers and our Veterans represent the best of us. Mykel is dedicated to putting an end to this on-going tragedy – a tragedy that can be fixed with The Gold Shield.
